It is significant that when God wanted to highlight His commitment to never
forget His children, He used the love and commitment of a mother (Isaiah. 49:15).
God emphasized the grace of motherhood as He designed it to show His divine
love to be incomparably higher. It reveals the powerful role God designed for
mothers – to nourish, nurture and raise nations from infancy to mountain heights.
The example of Deborah shows that God’s call to mothers is not limited to the
home. In Deborah, God raised a prophet to nurture the nation, warrior through
whom He liberated His people, a wife to favor His son and a mother to raise godly
children (Judges 4:3-6).
God’s example of Deborah informs us that a mother indeed is one who has found
Jesus. The power to match up to God’s standard of motherhood does not reside
in the flesh. God is calling His daughters to be instruments to build godly homes,
raise godly children and develop godly nations. The grace to excel in this calling is
available to women who will desperately seek and find Jesus. The resurrected
Christ revealed Himself first to women because they sought Him with all their
heart. They cared for Him in life and death. In a world where self-pleasure and
self-glorying is the focus of the crowd, Jesus is calling His daughters to be
examples of divine authority, godliness, modesty, and faithfulness. As we
celebrate mothers today, we trust the Lord for an outpouring of grace and
blessing on every mother in every home in Jesus’ Name.
Happy Mother’s Day.
PRAYER FOCUS: Father, we bless you for the grace on mothers and we ask for an
outpouring of Your Spirit upon them for wisdom, and strength to be true kingdom
