TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 16:1-13
Grace can be defined as means of help or strength. It is the strength God gives us which enables us to live or do as Jesus would do were He in our situation. Grace is a gift; it cannot be earned by human beings. Look around you; you will agree that we all need grace to survive in this world of ours. Anyway, we have survived this far by His grace – 1 Corinthians 15:10. However, if we don’t have solid spiritual understanding of God’s grace; we will constantly struggle in trying to follow Jesus or do the will of God. More so, many aspects of our Christian life will become a chore instead of a wonderful joy!
Beloved children of God, 2 Corinthians 12: 9 says “my grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness”. God is the giver of grace. Even though, we do not merit it; we need to ask for it and our Lord who is ever forgiving will pardon us and give us the grace if we are genuinely repentant. The Bible tells us that the life of King David was full of adventures but the grace of God was upon him. His career as a hero was preceded as an underdog-the youngest son, belittled by his older siblings; written-off, forgotten by his family but recognized and remembered by God- that is the grace of God at work. It was grace was what promoted him from an underdog to a king.
Brethren, no matter the situation we are in today; the grace of God is ever-sufficient and is available to us through all we are passing through if we yield everything unto Him. Will you ask for that grace today?
PRAISE THE LORD!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY
We celebrate in America this weekend –the Memorial Day Weekend, when we remember the soldiers who have died in battle to ensure the freedom we enjoy as Americans and remember the great times we shared with our fathers, mothers, grandmothers, grandmothers, brothers, sisters and friends who have passed away. On this day of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
PRAYER. Our Father and our Lord, we pray that you hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Please cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection. Lord, we pray for the families of our soldiers and ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, hope provision and strength will fill their lives. May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord’s mighty power to accomplish each task. We pray in Jesus Mighty Name.
