MATHEW 28: 1-10
Happy Easter Sunday, brothers and sisters in Christ. We are celebrating the most
important day of the year – the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. We are
celebrating the fact that someone who really died, really came alive again. Easter
morning brings a new light on death and its impact on our lives. There will always
be death in this world, but the angel tells the women in Jesus’ empty tomb, he
says to us, “You have nothing to fear”. The message tells us that even in the most
difficult times, there is hope.
Rejoice, brethren! Christ is alive, death could not hold – He is risen and by
that resurrection we stand justified. In the garden of Eden, Adam doubted God
and man fell; but because of Easter – by faith in Christ, fallen man is redeemed.
He died for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Because He lives,
we can face tomorrow.
Beloved children of God, today we celebrate a victory. Christ has won the
victory for us over the grave and assures us that death will not hold us down.
Jesus Christ conquered sin and death; He is alive forever. His power could not be
contained in a grave. His love could not be conquered by death. His truth could
never be buried and forgotten. Because God raised Jesus from the grave, we, too,
can have victory over death. We join with Paul in his shout: “But thanks be to
God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians
15:57). We have so much to celebrate today, for He has risen!
PRAYER FOCUS: Our loving Father, increase in our minds and hearts the risen life
we share with Christ and help us to grow as your people towards the fullness of
eternal life with you.
