ISAIAH 1:16-20
Brothers and sisters in Christ, God has the power to transform you and regardless of past sins, God can and will forgive you and allow you a new beginning. Isaiah 1. Verse 18 reads “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool”. God is saying that no matter how deep the stain of your sins, He can remove it and can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Psalm 103:12: “As far as the east is from the west, that far has he removed your transgressions from you”. Our greatest need in this Christian journey is the forgiveness of Almighty God, that we may walk in wholeness in our relationship with God.
There is a great similarity between Judah in Isaiah’s time and the world today. Declining moral standards, killing of innocent souls, girl child rapping, sexual assaults, stealing of nations’ resources, kidnapping and ransom demanding, deteriorating business ethics are rampant and the leadership of the nations move further and further away from God’s influence. We go through the motions of worshipping God in Church on Sundays but do not honor God in our hearts and our actions on other days of the week.
In Isaiah 1 verse 16, God tells the people of Israel and us, Christians to clear away the destructive things. “Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil,” “Learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.” As we confess to God, we humble our hearts before God with hope. We are on our way to becoming white as snow in His presence. Beloved, forgiveness is a gift from God that will allow us a new beginning. Today is your day.
PRAYER POINT: My Father and my Lord, thank for a second chance and a new dawn. I pray that your will and not my will be done from now and always, in Jesus’ name.
