THE GLORY OF GOD

THE GLORY OF GOD

EXODUS 33:12-19

The Glory of God can be defined as God’s moral beauty and perfection of character. This was what Moses asked God for in Exodus 33:18, “Now, show me your glory.” Moses’s prayer was to see the manifest glory of God. He wanted assurance of God’s presence with him on a very “big” assignment to “lead these people”.

The life of Moses in the Bible shows numerous encounters with God. In the desert, on the mountaintop and on the tent of meeting on the open plain in Exodus 33. He experienced God’s power in the plagues, encountered God at the burning bush. Yet in our text today, this man hungers for God. He is at a point when he needs to see God. “Now show me your glory.” Exodus 33:18.

Beloved children of God, we learnt from Isaiah 6:1-8 that the first thing we have to do to be in the presence of God is that our King Uzziah must die. Uzziah represented peace and security for Isaiah. A good person who blocked the need for drawing close to God. Some of us need to let our Uzziah’s die so, we can learn to worship God’s majesty, to give Him the honor He alone deserves, and to lift up and exalt His name for He alone is worthy of our praise and adoration. The Uzziah’s of your life could be a boyfriend or girlfriend, wife or husband, course mate or flat mate who pulls you away from your relationship with God.

The second thing that happens is we see ourselves for who we truly are. Isaiah cried out in vs. 5, “Woe is me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among people of unclean lips.” When we see who God is, we receive our call and ministry. God said, whom shall I send? And who will go for us? God is asking us – who shall I send to northern part of Columbus, Ohio? Who shall I send to Cleveland Avenue?

Our mission at Abundant Life Parish is to Connect People to Christ and membership of His Church, bring them to Christ- like maturity and prepare them for their ministry purpose, so that in everything God will be magnified. Are you saying like Isaiah, “Here am I, send me!” PRAISE THE LORD.

PRAYER POINT: Father, grant me the grace to endure the necessary pain for the sake of the gospel and Your kingdom, and please don’t let me miss out on the gains You have in store for me in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen
