THE POWER OF HOLY SPIRIT

THE POWER OF HOLY SPIRIT

 JOHN 16:5-13

Brethren, Jesus informed His disciples that while He would be leaving them, He would in turn send the Holy Spirit to be their helper. Jesus informed them that “when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit would help the disciples by bringing them comfort by causing them to remember everything that Jesus had told them (John 14:26) and by guiding them in all truth about Christ. He would also tell them of “things yet to come”- the nature of our mission, the opposition we would face and the final outcome of our efforts. The Holy Spirit revealed truths to the disciples and that is what they wrote down as the New Testament. The Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin and calls to repentance, revealing the standard of God’s righteousness and demonstrating Christ’s judgement over Satan. He wants us to know that although we fall short of God’s glory, Jesus has filled us with forgiveness and therefore we have been declared to be righteous. Children of the Most High God, the Holy Spirit is our source of power. Jesus told His disciples in Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth”. They were to wait to receive power from the Holy Spirit to witness for the Lord to all parts of the world. The Holy Spirit assists us in our weakness and directs us how to pray. He is our prayer partner. (Romans 8:26). The Holy Spirit is all knowing and helps us to understand the Word of God and in doing so we can find the Will of God for our lives. (1 Corinthians 2:10) The Holy Spirit sheds God’s love in our lives and If we need more love in our lives for others, wait on the Lord. (Romans 15:30)

PRAYER POINT: My Father and my Lord, please give me a fresh stirring and filling of your Holy Spirit.
