BEHOLD, THE LAMB OF GOD

BEHOLD, THE LAMB OF GOD

JOHN 1:19-36

John the Baptist, on two occasions, said, “behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world”. God had a purpose right from the beginning for our sins and would send a Messiah to bring His sinful children back into His fold. Isaiah 53:6 says “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all”.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus came to bring sinners to God. John 14:6 says “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. Jesus came from and for God. 1 John 4:14 says “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world”. 2 Cor 5:21 says “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”.

The blood of Jesus brings forgiveness. Heb 9:22 says “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no forgiveness”. Jesus shed His blood, gave His life for our sins so that we might live. After shedding His blood, Christ rose from the grave and proclaimed victory over sin and death. The blood of Jesus brings redemption 1 Peter 1:18-19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”. The blood of Jesus redeemed us and brings reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19 says “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation”. God brings us back to Himself by blotting out our sins and making us righteous and not guilty. His blood brings regeneration. 1Peter 1:23 says “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever”.

Beloved, Jesus died on the cross for you and me despite the fact that He had the power to call ten thousand angels to destroy the world and set Him free. Isaiah 53:5 says “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”. By Christ suffering on the cross, forgiveness of sins was made available to all mankind. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed. Will you give your life to Jesus Christ today?

PRAYER POINT: Jesus Christ, thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life and help me to live for you the rest of this life.
