DIVINE HEALING IS CHRISTIAN INHERITANCE

DIVINE HEALING IS CHRISTIAN INHERITANCE

As Christians, it is God’s will that His children walk in divine healing and health! The Bible tells
us that at the start of Jesus ministry, He “went throughout Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness
among the people” (Matthew 4:23). Later, when Jesus sent His twelve disciples out to preach
the gospel, He gave them authority to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2). Moreover, after Jesus’
resurrection and ascension, the apostles continued healing many (Acts 5:12-16). However, have
we ever pondered or asked ourselves why does Jesus heals?

Jesus heals because healing belongs to His children. When Jesus was preaching near the
city of Tyre, a Syrophoenician fell at His feet, asking Him to cast an unclean spirit out of her
daughter. Jesus said to her, “‘Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children’s
bread and throw it to the dogs.” But she answered Him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the
table eat the children’s crumbs.” (Mark 7:27-28). The Lord saw the woman’s faith, and the
daughter was delivered!

Jesus heals because He is full of compassion. A leper came to Jesus “imploring him, and
kneeling said to him, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean’” (Mark 1:40). What was the
Lord’s response? Moved with pity, He stretched out His hand and touched him and said to him,
“I am willing; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. (Mark
1:41-42) It was compassion that led to the miracle. Jesus is merciful, He heals people today for
the same reason.

Jesus heals to bring glory to His Father. On the side of a mountain near the sea of Galilee, the
Bible recorded that great crowds came to Him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the
crippled, the mute, and many others. They put them at His feet, and He healed them, so that
the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame
walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel. (Matthew 15:30-31)
Jesus heals to fulfill God’s promises (Matthew 8:16-17), to confirm His own Word (John
10:37-38), to show the power in His blood (Isaiah 54:4-5), and to destroy the works of the devil
(1 John 3:8). Jesus knows everything about you, He wants the best for you. You are His
treasure. He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:29-31). Jesus desires
to show mercy and heal you, call on Him for healing today!
