A blessing is “the act or words of one that blesses,” or “a thing conducive to happiness or welfare”. In Isaiah 51:2, God says: “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him”. God admonished us to draw inspiration from Abraham because Abraham is a perfect example and proof of how God’s grace can turn a nobody into greatness through a Covenant relationship with God. God said to Abraham in Gen 17:1-2 “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly”. God was searching for a man and found in Abraham that will partner with Him to establish God’s purpose on earth. God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac whom Abraham loved so much. Unexpectedly, Abraham did not hesitate to obey God because he had a covenant relationship with God. Abraham’s act of giving his own son Isaac in obedience was a symbol of what God did when He gave his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sin, so that we shall not perish. (John 3:16).
Beloved, God saw Abraham’s faithfulness and declared to him in Gen 22:16-18, “By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice”.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, God is willing to give you His best and He is willing to increase you greatly but first, He wants you to walk in the Covenant and meet Him at the place of obedience and sacrifice.
PRAYER POINT: For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12)
