CHARACTERISTICS OF JESUS

CHARACTERISTICS OF JESUS

REVELATIONS 3:6-8

Revelation 3:7 reads “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens”.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus is holy. This is an attribute of Jesus and refers to the quality of being infinitely separated from all that is contrary to God’s moral standard. Jesus is holy and worthy of faithful service. Jesus is the truth and the source of what we believe and has “the Key of David”. “The Key of David” represents Christ’s authority to open the door of invitation into His future Kingdom. After the door is opened, no one can close it – salvation is assured. Once it is closed, no one can open it – judgement is certain. He has the ultimate power to admit or exclude whoever He chooses. (Isaiah 9:6) Jesus has God’s full administrative authority to distribute or not distribute all God’s resources according to His will. He has unquestionable authority, ownership, power, sovereignty.

Beloved, Jesus is a kind and considerable God. He affirmed His intimate awareness of the difficult circumstances and the struggle of faithful ministry for Him in a hostile environment. He however promised to keep the door of opportunity for effective Ministry and Service open if we are faithful with what we have. (Revelations 3:8) When we allow ourselves to be used by God, our small strength can accomplish great things. He is the only One who can give us a great turnaround. Have you kept Jesus’ Word, not denied His name and had endured difficulties patiently because you are looking to Jesus? Are you faithful and using your limited ability to impact the world around you?
