HAPPY THANKSGIVING

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Psalms 106:1; Psalm 100:1-5

Psalms 106:1 says ”Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.”

Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are to give thanks for the goodness of God as we mark the first Sunday in the year 2020. We are blessed in our church, in our family and in our nation by the goodness of God. Of all people that should give thanks ours should be at the top of the list! It is not uncommon to compile lists at Christmas and draw up a list of resolutions of New Years, but there is another list we often overlook: A Thanksgiving Day list on this first Sunday of the year for which we are thankful.

Brethren, the greatest saint in the world is not he who prays most or fasts most; it is not he who gives most alms, or is more eminent for chastity or justice; but it is he who is always thankful to God, who wills everything that God wills, who receives everything as an instance of God’s goodness and has a heart always ready to praise God for it. God has been so good to us all and deserves nothing less than to find a thankful heart in every believer. The Bible, especially in the Psalms, encourages a thankful heart:

Psalm 100:4: ”Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”

Psalm 69:30: ”I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.”

Beloved children of the Most High God, in this new year, may the road rise up to meet you; may the sun shine warm upon your face; may the wind be always at your back and may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY THANKSGIVING SUNDAY!

PRAYER POINT: Almighty Father, I thank You very much for a New Year. I ask You, Lord, to bless my family, as we begin this blessed year with a renewed hope in You. May I be obedient to Your ways and Your will in my life.
