Matt. 25: 31-46
God is love. His mercy and kindness are beyond our understanding. This truth is usually the one that captures our perspective when we look at the Lamb of God. He represents the grandest expression of love that ever existed in time and eternity. A Holy God and Creator released Himself in the form of the Son to ransom man from sin’s demand for justice and for eternal reconciliation of all men to Himself (Col.1:20-22). This awesome truth about God is also our preferred perspective of God and the subject of many sermons today. However, there is also an equally true and perfect side to Him. Our God is the Righteous Judge (2 Tim. 4:8). The Lamb of God is also the Worthy (and Righteous) Judge (Rev.5: 7-9). In fact He is
the Judge because He is the Savior (Jn. 5:27).
A wonderful and fearful truth about God is that He is a Rewarder (Heb11:6). He lovingly rewards righteousness and fiercely punishes evil. He is incredibly merciful as He is a Consuming Fire. He is
gracious beyond comprehension yet the Bible clearly states that there is a terror to Him when He judges evil (2 Cor. 5:11). There is eternal life and safety with Him in heaven for those that accept His offer of salvation and there is eternal perdition and torment away from Him in the Lake of fire for those that reject
Him. Our wonderful Savior is also the Fierce Judge.
The common practice is to focus on Christ as the majestic and wonderful Savior. This reaction, though
commendable, is inadequate. We need to acknowledge Him as The Lamb of God, the Savior and the Judge of the whole world. We need to sound the alarm that all men should – “call on the coming Judge to be their present Savior”. We must warn men that if they run from Him now, they will meet Him as Judge
on that day of Judgement when there will be no hope, no mercy and no grace. We must inform everyone that cares to listen that seeking Him now is the only way to avoid the coming fiery indignation of fearful judgment which God has prepared against everyone that rejects His offer of salvation.
Prayer focus : Lord every way the devil is scheming to lure me away from the way of life, I receive
grace to overcome. Deliver me from every snare set to draw me from the way of life in Jesus name.
