Exodus 10:26
A profound depiction of Jehovah as the Almighty Deliverer is seen in the salvation of Israel from Egypt,
the land of captivity, and from Pharaoh, a stubborn bond master. Through mighty signs and wonders,
including the shedding of the blood of all firstborns in Egypt, Israel was ransomed from bondage to serve
the Lord and to claim their inheritance (Exodus 4:22-23). Israel was in a bondage she could not deliver
herself from under a wicked bond master that sought to eternally enslave the her. Without deliverance
from bondage, they had no hope of serving God freely and no assurance of experiencing the fulfilment
of promises made to Abraham. Salvation of Israel came when they cried to God. He responded in love by
sending a man with a message to the bond master and the shedding of blood to ransom His people.
This story of deliverance is an example unto us about the Savior that will deliver God’s people from
captivity, release the liberty to serve God and to claim all promises He made to them. Sin is terrible bond
master. The devil, who himself sinned from the beginning, is ruthlessly using the devices of sin to
enslave men in this age. He has blinded and kept many in darkness to the extent that they cannot see
the light of the gospel (2 Cor. 4:4). Many are enslaved by sinful habits, living in cycles of sin without hope
of freedom. Even self-professed “Christians” continue to experience a life of futile struggle to serve God
freely and to claim all the God-given promise and inheritance because of sin. The good news is, there is a
solution in Jesus. By His sacrifice, resurrection and accession, we are delivered and ransomed. Are you
struggling with a besetting sin or enslaved by habit or pressures of life? Jesus is the key to freedom. This
is the season of deliverance from terrible bond masters. It is time to accept the Deliverer, accept the gift
of eternal life and escape the danger of eternal perdition in hell. It is time to run to Jesus, the Savior.
Prayer focus: Lord, deliver me from every bond master that has kept me in cycles of sin. I declare that
henceforth, sin would not have dominion over me in Jesus name. I receive liberty to worship You, Lord.
