THE PATH TO PRIDE

THE PATH TO PRIDE

Every human being struggles with pride in life! Pride can be in several ways.
Refusing to serve God, refusing to wait on God, refusing to do God’s will are few
examples of pride. Sadly, many of us do not realize the potential that waits for us
if we just let go of our pride and move forward in God's plan. The Bible warns us
that God hates the sin of pride and will discipline the proud (Isaiah 2:12). Let us
not see ourselves as "wise in our own eyes" but let us become humble and willing
to learn from God (James 4:10).

An example of pride can be seen in the story of Jonah (Jonah 1:1-17). Jonah
refused God’s request to go to the wicked city of Nineveh and encourage them to
repent of their ways. Jonah’s reasoning was that Nineveh was a despicable place
where the Lord wasn’t received well, and it would be beneath him to go over
there and waste his time proclaiming the gospel to them. Brethren, we need to
be focused on being like Jesus Christ, our ultimate example of selflessness who
gave Himself on the cross for us. Let us desist from acts of pride and put on the
spirit of humility. Remain blessed in Jesus Name.

PRAYER POINT: My Father, My Father, please rescue me from the self-
deception of pride by giving me a realistic view of my life, talents, and
relationship with you; always looking to the cross which reveals both the
wrath I deserve and Your costly grace.
