Matt. 15:21-18
A turnaround may not necessarily have to do with God. Man is a freewill agent that can make a choice to
operationalize a body of natural principles that answer to whoever cares to apply them. The question then
is, what does God have to do with a turnaround? Two, important but non-exhaustive, reasons. First, an
unfortunate truth is that all men do not have the opportunity to a fair landscape of life. Issues like family
history (in form of foundational issues such as curses and covenants), territorial history and personal life
choices have allowed the devil varying degrees of interference in many lives. This results in situations
that human strength cannot overcome. Hence, there’s need for supernatural help from the Almighty God.
Second, God is the greatest advantage of the believer. Whether we are playing on a fair landscape of life
or we are challenged by history and demonic influences – God is available to us as our Help and Source.
Jehovah is our Lord and (joyfully) we are His responsibility.
Next question, why do we need to unlock our turnaround? If God knows we are in need, why wouldn’t
He just arise to our rescue, prayer or not? God’s integrity requires that He respects the right of choice that
He gave us. Though He is sovereign, He respects our freewill to invite Him, to reject Him, to ask for help
and to refuse help. The earth belongs to God, but He has given it to men. The established principle of this
realm is that God has limited Himself to require man’s agreement to work in this realm. Furthermore,
God gave man the authority to dominate and rule the earth. Consequently, God’s parental obligation
requires that He allow and encourage us to exercise dominion through His strength by holding our hands
as we take charge of situations. Finally, the fuel for working with God is faith (Heb. 11:6). How can God
allow us to exercise our faith and dependence without opportunities to come to Him and to receive His
compassionate intervention?
The question many are afraid to ask is – Is God willing to give us a turnaround? The simple answer is
(a resounding) – Yes! (Rom.8:32) Often, many believe that God can do anything. However, many
believers struggle with doubts about God’s willingness to answer their requests. Many perceive
themselves as unrighteous, or unworthy or harbor a belief that their predicament is the “will of God”. The
rationale often sounds like, “if God is in control of all things, then this must be from Him”. I completely
disagree. God may have permitted a situation to take advantage of the enemy’s evil intention to glorify
Himself but let’s be sure of this, our God is a good God. Some believe that their situation is a
consequence of sin and conclude that they must bear it themselves. The truth is Christ died for us while
we were sinners. This means, His sacrifice is ever available to those that would come to Him (Jn. 6:37).
Do not stay a minute longer outside His help. Your turnaround is waiting on you to arise to pray and insist
on God’s intervention. Declare your change into existence now.
Prayer focus: Oh Lord, you are my Lord. I release my situation unto You. Arise for my sake and turn the
tide in my favor in Jesus name.
