Knowing God Early

Knowing God Early

Eccl. 12:1, Ps. 63:1-5

The necessity of knowing God commands a response that respects the required urgency and desperation. As
pilgrims, who are subjected to the authority of time and seasons, the understanding of the power of time is
invaluable. The call to know God is time-bound. It is an invitation that requires immediate response. Our
lives on this side of eternity is fleetingly short, which means that our opportunity to make the most of our
pilgrimage is painfully limited. The depths within God available to us for exploration are so unfathomable
that we need every minute of breath to go as far as the Lord will take us into Himself. The mysteries and
wonders of God’s person are such that even eternity is not enough to explore Him. His purposes for us are
also time sensitive. All of creation continue to wait with desperation for the sons of God to manifest their light
in their assigned generations. While the tendency for men is to prioritize the demands of life over the call to
develop a deeper relationship with God, divine wisdom teaches us that the time to seek God is Now.

Now, while strength remains, is the time for young men and women to press into God. The glory embedded in
the vigor of youthfulness is a precious God-given seed that can only fulfil its eternal potential when given
back to God. Youthful years are sensitive and dangerous as the world around continue to reveal. The morning
of life is purposed for seeking God. The guarantee of safe passage is not found in mere focus on education,
moral or career but in coming into a union with the Omniscient One. Christ Jesus is the mirror image of the
Father and the prototype for sons of God. In Christ we see the greatest height God has made available for His
children. As we press into Him, we see our Father making us into that same image of Christ through His
Spirit. The call to everyone, children, youths and adults, is to reject the folly of time-wasting focus on chasing
things and to embrace the wisdom of seeking God now. Our time is short. Wisdom teaches us that the time to
know God is Now.

Prayer focus: Lord I receive grace to seek you early. Holy Spirit I pray, that you cultivate in me a deeper
appetite for communion and fellowship with You. I receive a hunger for You Lord in Jesus name.
