EPHESIANS 5:18
” And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit”;
Beloved children of God, we sometimes live beneath the standard God wants us to live, don’t do all that God wants us to do, and God doesn’t accomplish all that He wants to accomplish in our lives and with our lives because we do not live the Spirit filled life. 1 Cor. 3:16 says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” This can be translated to mean that as a Christian, when we get “born again” the Holy Spirit came to dwell within our body.
When the Holy Spirit which is the third Person in the godhead, equal to and co-equal with God the Father and God the Son is in dwelling in us, He must have an active role in everything we do. Living the Spirit filled life is having faith in God, being obedient to God and living a life empowered by God. God, by the Holy Spirit, becomes personal to each of us when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and repent of our sins. When we do that, God the Holy Spirit then lives in us and we live an empowered and Spirit filled life. Rom 8:9 says “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”. The Holy Spirit is the source of strength for everything we do by giving to us spiritual gifts. – wisdom/ knowledge/discernment/faith/healing/miracles/prophecy/ so that no matter what happens you have His ability to overcome and we are made more than conquerors through him.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, God wants you to LIVE in the Spirit, SPEAK in the Spirit, and MINISTER in the Spirit. When you live, speak and minister in the Spirit then you are doing what God has ordained for you to do and the church become the living church of the living God and the reality of His presence in our lives become evident to all and God is glorified in our lives. When the Holy Spirit is in-dwelling in you, you are able to handle temptation, worry, fear, stress, tension and any other unpalatable situation that might come your way. Then, you can boldly declare to the world that you have found the way to live because Jesus Christ is Lord of your life! With the assistance of the Holy Spirit, you have help in the time of fear, power in the time of weakness and strength in the time of battle. When the gifts of the Spirit are allowed to be at work in your lives then you will see lives cleaned up, sin become hated and the things of God become the cherished possessions, the treasured time, the highest goal.
