THE TRUE WORSHIPPER

THE TRUE WORSHIPPER

JOHN 4:23-24

“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the
Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Beloved, God desires that every Christian minister to Him in adoration,
praise, and thanksgiving – as well as through living in trusting-faith. The human
mind is limited in its ability to adequately express to God the emotions and
feelings towards Him that well up in the heart. We serve God and we worship God
each Sunday when we gather together to sing His praises and listen to His Word,
but there is so much more to worship than that. We worship when we share
God’s Word and His love with new believers around Columbus, Ohio. Jesus said,
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you”. (Mathew 28:19-20) We worship God when we support
the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and distribute food to the poor and needy at the Sunday
afternoon Church Food Pantry. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me”. (Mathew 25:40) We also
worship God when we attend a Bible Study on Tuesday evening. Jesus said, “For
where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them”. (Mathew
18:20)

Worship is an act of love. It is a demonstration of love. Worship must be vital
and real in the heart, and worship must rest on a true perception of God. There
must be spirit and there must be truth. Emotion without truth produces empty
frenzy and cultivates shallow people who refuse the discipline of rigorous
thought. However true worship comes from people who are deeply emotional
and who love deep and sound doctrine. Strong affections for God rooted in truth
are the bone and marrow of Biblical worship. Our worship must be genuine and
true and have the Holy Spirit help. The Holy Spirit helps us in worship by praying
for us, (Romans 8:26), teaching us the Words of God (Romans 14:26) and telling
us we are loved by God to enable us to live by His powers. (Romans 5:5).

PRAYER POINT: My Father and my Lord, please teach me to worship you in spirit
and truth.
